Bonjour, I know this is supposed to be a blog about social media but I'm trying to put on one of my passionate for this world: Food! Who doesn't like food? Food as a part of our life is becoming more stylish and mix with other culture. I'm from Indonesia and I love Indonesian food. When the first time, I arrived at Melbourne, I was pretty concerned about the taste of food in here. And voila, here I am now typing to you guys about food in Melbourne.
In here, there are many variations of food, from Chinese to Mexican food. And I'm almost had tried those foods. However, to eat those food, I must spent a massive amount of money, which is very BAD! Fortunately, I found some food that are very heartwarming for my pocket. There's a way to get good food without good spending. LOL If you want to try Indonesian food,I can recommend you about Salero Kito, a Padang restaurant near Caulfield campus. The taste is great and the price is not very expensive. The most favourite dishes is Rendang that considered as a no. 1 food from the review of CNN. You can try it! Or if you like another preference disehes like Thailand food or maybe another Indonesian food, You can try Ying Thai 2 in Laygonn St. and Warung Gudeg in Clayton. Ying Thai popular dishes is their crispy pork skin which is very exotic but delicious, while Warung Gudeg provide delicous food called Gudeg. The taste is sweet and exotic that very tasty for my tounge. I don't know about you guys but I like it very much!
The other food I never taste is French food. I'm pretty curious about how it would like and maybe you can give me an advice about delicious French food in Melbourne. I often seen French food in movies and advertisement but I never ever taste it. Because I like French and (will be) the food. But I can't speak French. LOL

Social media = social autism?
I often heard my lecturer said to everyone that nowadays is rarely to spend time with others face to face. Well, at certain point, his statement is considered to be true. I often saw many people are communicate only between social media and other technological as well. Back at my country, I almost everyday saw people communicate using BlackBerry Messenger a.k.a BBM, even when he/she stand next to each other. I'm just wondering, how could this be happening? When I was a child, I remembered the only one way to communicate between each other was using telephone. I rarely spoke to each other because of this. And then blam! Here comes technology! People were began to using a mobile phone and Internet became easier to access. PC and laptop became less and less expensive and many technological tools influenced the way people do their life. Many people began to exploited the power of Internet and started using social media as their way to have a "social life".
This social media things already shifted the way people runs their life. When people want some things, they just go to the online shop. When people want to see a education fair, they just searching it in google, and many other cases. It is just not right to seen people are inflicted to this kind of "new habit". My daily life for now is around technological related activities. Wake up, check my phone, turn on my laptop, searching any news, chatting, playing Facebook, etc. When it is compared to what I've done 10 years ago, it is very different. I'm not dependent on technology as like now and it created a social autism when people are only focusing on their phone instead of chatting to the people next to them. Is it will stay like this in the future? I just hope not because we, human are a social beings who need others to live from real world not online worlds. What do you think about this? Do people are still need social interaction in real life? I prefer to said yes because nothing will be able to defeat the meaning of being social in the real life

Vlog is Vood
Blog is coming up in a new way. Video Blogging a.k.a Vlog is considered to be an innovative way of doing blog because so many people could not or hard to express their feeling by writing so video blogging is created. Youtube is considered as the best social media tool for create a vlog. Particularly, doing blog is almost the same like making a voice diary or making a video log in some experiment. The difference is vlog could be watched by all people if we want it. There are some people that being popular by creating a vlog. For example: Nigahiga. This vlog is created by Ryan Higa via Youtube. Many people already watched his performance in the vlog made by him.
This is the prove that vlogging could be replacing blogging as a media to communicate.
It took a lot of courage to make a vlog, because in the past, I knew how hard it was to express yourself in front of the camera and the rest is depends on your creativity. Most of the vlogging in Youtube reached succeed because they are very creative people while sometimes they already made a theme for their vlog. For example, epic meal time focused on creating a massive food with a way no one never think before. Vlogging is going to be better from time to time. It could make the people in the vlog become popular and they become famous and generate profit from selling merchandise. Personally, I think vlog could be a great way to communicate between customers and think is the best way to introducing yourself in public. If I had the idea to make a blog, I'll even consider of making one. How about you guys? What do you think?

I Love Smartphone
One question for you guys: What phone did u use? Most of you will answer iPhone. And some others will answer Android or Blackberry. Second question: do your phone has a special integrated social media system connecting to your phone? Will definitely yes. Third question: Is u always use social media platform in your phone? Mostly also yes. The reason is because people these days are using their phone as a tool to access their social media. Is there a relation between the development of social media with the development of mobile phones? If we look back ten years ago, when mobile phone was just a phone and the function was limited. I remembered, my phones ten years ago was Nokia 8250. The only function was SMS, games, blue light background and of course, phone. Here are the picture of Nokia 8250.

Fast forward to 5 more years, my phone changed into Sony Ericsson W800. At that time, it was the most advance phones that I had. It got features like camera, music, video, internet (limited), SMS, MMS and again, phone. But we can't resist how fast technologies are going. Right now, my phones is BlackBerry Bold 9700. The functions? It has lots lots of function. Browsing, Music player, Instant Messaging, Map, and the social media integrated system (Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, etc). When we see how fast the development of both mobile phones and social media, we become realised that they are built with to cover each other. For example, nowadays, we see many mobile social network platform like Facebook for iPhone, Facebook for BlackBerry or Twitter for Android. It's like that social media began to realise the importance of integrating themselves into mobile phones because mobile phones has developed into a new level and they can be a perfect vessel to integrate the social media. People are began to communicate with their phones rather than laptop due of the efficiency and practical. Moreover, phones now has begin to shifting their function into social media access function like HTC to help the user to access their social media account. Rapid development of social media turned the development of phones into social media related instead of other kinds of entertainment like gaming (Nokia N-Gage), mobile TV, etc. This is the fact that Social Media turned our life. I as a smartphone user, like social media integrated features in it because it help me to communicate with other people. How about you guys?

Welcome to Indonesia
Has anybody been to Indonesia before? It is an island country located in the South East Asian. The most popular island in Indonesia is Bali, and I think most Australian already been there before. It has very nice view and becomes a popular tourist destination in the world. Unfortunately, there are some nice place in Indonesia that are failed to expose themselves in the tourism world. As an island country, Indonesia has many beautiful places like Raja Ampat, Kepulauan Seribu (Thousand Island), Wakatobi Beach and many other unexplored beautiful places. Besides the islands, Indonesia has many other historical and exotic tourist destination. For example, Borobudur temple, which Richard Gere meditated in there, Yogyakarta, the mystical yet fascinating places, etc.
Indonesian government already tried to maximize this part to increasing country's income from tourist and "Visit Indonesia" program is borne. With this program, Indonesia government hoping to introduce the beautiful Indonesia throughout the world. But I think Indonesia could follow Canada's way to promote their tourist attraction. Let me show you how they operate.
Canada actually using Twitter as a media to promote their tourist attraction! And they improvising as most American are busy, so they made a mural in the middle of the street and starts promoting. This is one of many chances that could help tourism to actually marketing themselves not by old fashioned way but convenient ways adopt to the need of modern era. And i think one way that could help tourism is to promote their food. Many people are like to eat, including me, and Indonesia has many exotic foods that only belong to Indonesia. With making a catalogue of food and combining it with social media platforms such as Twitter, I think tourism in Indonesia could be popular. This also can be done with many countries not only Indonesia. What do all of you think?

To Ads or Not To Ads
Tuesday night, Wags told us about Facebook ads. After all this time, I didn't know that Facebook has a advertising. Every time I used Facebook, there is always ads in the right of my Facebook page, but I didn't know where it came from or how to do that, until Tuesday. Thanks Wags! Back in my country, me and my friend already has an online store that sold in Facebook. My Facebook store is selling secondhand comic books and novel in Indonesian language. My Facebook store called Hobby Box. If anyone interested in looking one can used the link I gave in the blog. LOL. I also have one more store that sold figures and some of it I post my items in the forum. The forum name is Kaskus. This is the most popular forum in Indonesia. With only posted in the forum, I can advertise my products and gain attention from the consumers, without I ads myself.
Is it needed to advertise your product in the online or just post it in Facebook? I thought it will create the same impact like when you post it in the post or advertise yourself and with advertising you must pay while when you post, its free! I know when you ads your product, your product will be seen by other strangers, but will see the ads? Because when I see Facebook or any other website that provide ads, I wouldn't want to click it. I prefer just to post my products in the forum instead of pay for advertise my products. How about you guys?

First Blood
Everyone who like games must've been known what DoTa is. But I will explain anyhow about DoTa. So basically, DoTa is a online games based on Warcraft III that allows player to pick one Hero and than battle it between players. The player win if he or she can beat the other player until their main base is destroyed. This game was popular ever since it was first introduced to public. And now there gonna be DoTa 2. Yayyyy!! I can show you the official video for DoTa 2.
How does DoTa 2 link with social media marketing? First, it is a popular game. If you look at the video on Youtube, there were many people are watching the video of a battle in DoTa 2. Next, this is nice timing for every company to sponsor this event. There are many company that willing to sponsor for their team in the DoTa 2 tournament. If someone interested in DoTa 2, you can access this link. Company like Gigabyte, Razer and other major electronic brands are willing to sponsored in a great amount of money. The prize for the winning team in the tournament equals to $ 1 million! Last, DoTa promote themselves only via video streaming and the great Youtube. It also has Facebook page and Twitter page. This prove that marketing is improvising through SM with games as their main core as games become a trend in this modern society. Many people are like to enter games as a market for their product. Gaming console, gaming keyboard, mouse and all other equipments that had been produced is the prove that gaming is becoming main attraction to marketing. Since online games related to social media, so it is a great aspect to be viewed. What do you think? Is online games will be connected to social media? Or it will be a stand alone? And what are the impact for marketing?
